Who we are

The Church on the Corner

Mansfield Road Baptist Church in Nottingham is over 150 years old and has been worshipping in the present building since 1913.  We are a friendly church made up of people of a variety of ages, cultures and backgrounds.  We are “The Church on the Corner” and the physical location of our buildings at the meeting place of main roads is a symbol of the kind of Church God calls us to be:

  • a Church which makes it possible for a wide variety of people to meet with one another and with God.  We are to be “all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28)
  • a gathered community of believers whose life revolves around the Lord Jesus Christ so that we become a living demonstration of the Kingdom of God to all with whom we come into contact so that they too may become His disciples. (Matthew 5: 14-16)
  • a serving community which reaches out with a commitment to life in all its fullness for all people. (John 10:10)

MRBC is a member of the East Midland Baptist Association www.embaptists.co.uk which gathers together the Baptists of Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.  We are also part of Churches Together in Nottinghamshire, www.churchestogethernottinghamshire.org.uk

Nationally, we are affiliated to the Baptist Union www.baptist.org.uk which advises Baptist churches on all sorts of issues.  Through Home Mission (one of our major mission commitments) the BU funds many local churches and mission projects.

Corinthians 13:12

"Now we see things imperfectly as in a cloudy mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely."
