Centre Co-Ordinator

(20 hours)

£17,290 pro rata


Mansfield Road Baptist Church (MRBC), a Church located to the north of central Nottingham, is a place where we meet to worship God which in part includes serving the needs of the wider community .


The church is looking to appoint a  Centre Co-Ordinator who will be part of a team that ensures the smooth running of the church buildings and the lead staff member for the “Corner Place Charity” which the church has  set up to oversee existing community initiatives alongside the development of new ones. The role will involve some hands on work in our café as well as playing a part in seeking new funding opportunities and the overseeing of specific staff members and some volunteers.


You will need to respect Christian prayer and be sympathetic and supportive to the Church’s identity and vision.  Ideally, you will have experience of working with and the management of volunteers; good written and verbal communications skills and good computing skills. You will need to be a good team player as well as being able to work without supervision.

You will be responsible to the Minister and the Deacons of the Church.

                                     Job Description                                                

The Centre Co-Ordinator will work as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of the church as a whole and be the lead staff member for the “Corner Place Charity” .

Responsible for            Toddler Group Leader, Cleaner & Volunteers


Hours of work              20 hours per week  
Tuesday to Friday  9am – 2pm
May include some evening and weekend work (Time taken off in lieu)
Holidays will initially be 20 days + Bank Holidays


            Salary                           £17,290 pro rata


Main responsibilities:


1) Corner Place Charity
To coordinate the working groups of the trustees and to ensure the charity continues to develop. To support funding bids on behalf of the charity. In the café, you will need to receive food deliveries  and ensure  compliance  with statutory regulations. You will line manage our  Toddler Group leader.

2) Premises Management
To work alongside ongoing working parties considering premises matters.
Work with our Administrator in ensuring that the best possible use is made of the premises and that they are managed safely.
You will be the Health and Safety Leader, working alongside interested volunteers. In this role there will be the need to ensure that all necessary policy documents are in place, that risk assessments are carried out and Child Protection policies are followed.
As part of the responsibility for ensuring the premises are at their best you will line manage the Church Cleaner.
There will be the hands on requirement to manage the central heating system and to be one of the team of emergency contacts.

3) Volunteer Support.
You will be the person responsible for promoting volunteering and subsequently recruiting and ensuring appropriate training is provided for the respective roles. You will be involved with the safeguarding team.

4) Funeral Ministry
The premises are used regularly for funerals, particularly from an Afro-Caribbean heritage. You will have a hands on capability to operate the sound system and to do this role if necessary. You will work with the Administrator to ensure the smooth running of this ministry.

  • Good written English and verbal communications skills
  • Good time management skills

  • Ability to analyse problems and find good solutions
  • Able to act with appropriate confidentiality
  • Experience of working with volunteers
  • First Aid & Food Hygiene Qualifications (or willingness to train for them)
  • The position will require a DBS check
